The Assistant Underwriter helps keep Programs and Brokerage running smoothly by managing workflows, supporting underwriting decisions, and ensuring consistent follow-through on active accounts.
- The role includes reviewing submissions for completeness, gathering underwriting information, organizing documents, and participating in early-stage risk evaluation through applications, supplemental forms, loss runs, and exposure details.
- Work often involves preparing quotes, coordinating with brokers to secure needed information, and assisting with binders, policies, endorsements, and renewal documentation.
- Coordination of inspections, audits, and claims-related materials is part of the day-to-day support for underwriting and account activity.
- Maintaining secure, accurate, and well-organized files across all platforms is an important part of the role.
- Rating data and underwriting information are entered for both new business and renewals to support accurate quoting and policy issuance.
- The position also provides support for accounting activities tied to underwriting work, including invoicing, collections, reconciliations, bordereaux updates, and surplus lines tax data entry.
- Monitoring internal reports for accuracy and compliance helps ensure the department stays aligned with underwriting standards.
- Professional, timely communication with brokers supports strong working relationships and smooth workflow.
- The role also contributes to the growth and refinement of Tropolis insurance programs through research, organization, and underwriting support.
- Candidates should demonstrate strong attention to detail and disciplined work habits.
- Candidates should have commercial insurance experience, ideally including wholesale with 2+ years wholesale and 3 - 5 years of P&C experience.
- Candidates should have strong technical capabilities and readiness to learn new systems and underwriting tools.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills are important.
- Reliable organizational abilities and the ability to manage work independently are required.

Education
A bachelor’s degree is desired.
License and Certification
An active Property and Casualty License is required.
